This saw mill was located at one time in L'Anse Grise on Highway 13 at Bayou Nezpique. The mill was owned and operated by Alibe Vidrine, the son of Francois Vidrine, Jr., and some of his sons until the mid-40s, when Alibe became ill and subsequently died on 11 June 1945. The operation was taken over by Kirby Vidrine, one of Alibe's sons, and continued until sometime in the 1950s. Here is the preliminary identification of the people in the picture: from left, Frank Vidrine, Alibe Vidrine, Viel Vidrine and Edward Vidrine (corrections will be made as more information becomes available). I'm not sure of the exact location of the saw mill when this picture was taken. This picture was taken by one of his daughters, Eve, married to Tillman Guillory of Easton. |
