comment : Good points Mr. Dowell on your Ramblings page!  I'm learning a few words a day but many are not local to Evangeline.  That's ok with me.  The French that I'll learn as I go will be a combination of Evangeline - Vermilion - Terrebonne - etc etc. Even France.  Unless someone did a complete study and then wrote a textbook on Evangeline Parish French, that's the way I will learn.  It's either that or just drop the whole thing - shelve it for history -and either learn standard French or simply improve my English! :-)

comment : Dowell, thanks for the site again! I enjoy going to it and read all the good news about Lanse Grise and the family.
I like the recipes. So for I've tried the cooch cooch recipe and the pain perdue [From Our Favorite Links page, http://cajunfires.com/]. I never had cooch cooch before that I can remember, but I did try to make pain perdue before but didn't know how to make it.
So thanks for the recipe sites, I like to try new recipes.

comment : Hey, Joe. Welcome to our website. I see you are sort of a displaced (misplaced, as my son says it) Cajun, too. Glad to have you aboard and thanks for visiting and signing the comment/guestbook page. We sometimes tend to forget that Oberlin, Basile, Elton and Kinder, and surrounding areas, have quite a few Cajuns who make that area their home. In fact, I happen to have some Chapman cousins, who I've never met, living in and around Oberlin.

comment : Found this site from something posted on the accordion discussion forum.  Have enjoyed it very much.  Really like the writing and postsings in Cajun French and the discussions about different words.  I speak it but have not written but an occasional few words.  Keep up the great job.   Jeaux

comment : I've been a little lax in my response here to all of the new visitors of the comments page, Nona, Burnell, Karen, Tiffiny and Greg. Although I've written to each one of you, I want to say again that I really appreciate hearing from all of you, some of whom I haven't talked to in a while. Please feel free to use this comments page/form as often as you like, or visit our message board, accessed from our website.

The website started as L'Anse Grise Mardi Gras website - a place to publish pictures of the run - but grew into an informational site. Hopefully, it will continue to grow. Any suggestions for improving, or information to put on, the website will be much appreciated. Thanks to everyone for your support. - Dowell

God Bless

comment : Dowell, it's a nice website!  Going back to the picture of the sawmill and the people in it-- who I see in the picture from left to right is Frank, Alibe (at the control) Veil (in white) and the other is probable Edward or an employee. We'll get it straight when I can show this to my other brother or sisters. Once again I enjoy the Lanse Grise website-- THANKS!

comment : Oh-oh! Me thinks that there is a hint of a chalenge in that message. I guess we'll have to start feeding the chickens cement a little early this year. I'm not sure, though, about that Avoyelles Parish technology...we'll have to wait and see.

comment :  "Tender little eggs"?

Man, I shouldn't tell you my secret weapon but the Redneck influence in me wants to brag.  Bryan, I got some Avoyelles Parish connections and they have scientifically engineered their chickens to lay yard eggs strong enough to break through wood.  They throw their eggs against trees and the ones that break are thrown away in disgrace.

Only the ones that you can throw through a wooden wall or bounce off a tree make it to the Paque.

Now, you come on down from Texas and bring some painted bricks or something because otherwise there won't be no challenge.

comment :  Mike, you just bring your tender little eggs, that way we will definately have enough for deviled eggs.

Yeah, pop, I was plenty excited.  I was excited to see everyone glad we were doing it, which I hope means we will do it again every year.  Hopefully it will only get better.
